PRIORITY PICKS
Amazing Spider-Man #30 (Marvel Comics, $4.99, Joe Kelly). Confirmed potential first appearance of Spore, a new villain whose origin is tied directly to Peter Parker. Origin-tied villain debuts under Kelly have a clean track with the Spidey audience, and the verification is on the record from the creative team rather than secondary chatter.
Invincible Universe Capes #7 (Image Comics, $3.99, Benito Cereno & Robert Kirkman/Mark Englert). Confirmed first comic book appearance of Ella Mental in the Invincible Universe, with Kirkman in the writing chair and a backup story rounding out the issue. Kirkman-attached firsts in this corner of the universe tend to hold interest through the early aftermarket window.
Superman #38 (DC Comics, $5.99, Joshua Williamson/Dan Mora). Confirmed event with Superboy-Prime stepping into the heroic Superman role. Williamson and Mora are running the book, the change is on the record going into FOC, and it's the most concrete continuity move on the May 4 list.
ON THE RADAR
Something Is Killing The Children #48 (Boom! Studios, $4.99, James Tynion IV). Active rumor heat around a potentially significant new villain debut. The rumor is unverified going into FOC, so this sits in Radar instead of Priority. Tynion has produced enough horror villains worth tracking that the speculation isn't unreasonable.
Lost Fantasy #10 (Image Comics, $5.99, Curt Pires/Luca Casalanguida). Maxi Diallo 1:25 virgin variant features Bombshell on the cover, fueling speculation about her expanded role. Cover-only signals fade unless the interior backs them up, but the 1:25 ratio plus a recognizable artist name keeps this on the watch list.
Gun Honey Doubles Down #1 (Titan Comics, $14.99, Charles Ardai/Ang Hor Kheng). Variant cover lineup is the entire pitch: Artgerm, Adam Hughes, and the rest of the high-demand artist roster. No first appearance, no confirmed event. Watch-tier ratio variant interest only.
RUMOR WATCH
Lion King #4 (rumor-based) (Dynamite Entertainment, $4.99, Edwin Galmon). Speculation centers on a Scar versus Mufasa confrontation and the arrival of an unrevealed familiar character. The pipeline has this flagged as confirmed, but the underlying source is vague enough on the second character that we are treating it as Rumor Watch until the identity actually drops in the book.
Tarzan Beyond #1 (rumor-based) (Alien Books, $5.99, Steve Orlando). Unverified speculation about future crossover one-shots from the publisher, possibly involving Godzilla. Orlando's name is the strongest signal so far. The crossover talk is downstream and not specific to this issue, so positional only.
