Matías Bergara 25-copy wraparound incentive cover.
We Only Find Them When They're Dead launched in September 2020 as one of BOOM! Studios' flagship sci-fi titles, written by Al Ewing with interior art by Simone Di Meo. The series follows a crew of deep-space salvagers whose survival depends on harvesting the bodies of dead gods drifting through the cosmos. Ewing's sharp genre instincts and Di Meo's kinetic, color-saturated pages made the debut issue one of the more visually ambitious sci-fi comics BOOM! had put out in years, and #1 went through multiple later printings.
This is the Cover D 25-copy wraparound incentive variant, with cover art by Matías Bergara. The wraparound format puts the full composition across both the front and back covers. Bergara's style, expressive, otherworldly, and deeply atmospheric, makes for a cover that reads very differently from the main cover and the other variants on offer for #1. At a 25-copy order threshold, this was the highest-tier incentive attached to the issue's launch.
