How Your Pull Box Works

How Your Pull Box Works

Your pull box is how you order new comics from us before they come out. You need a free Hero account (it takes a minute to join). Add books from the FOC List, our weekly list of upcoming comics, and pay nothing now. About 9 days before a book comes out, we email one bill for that week's books. Pay it, and your box ships the day the books come out.

FOC (final order cutoff) is the last day a store can order a book from the publisher, usually 2 to 5 weeks before it comes out. Until a book's FOC, you can change it or remove it for free. After that, we've ordered it for you.

Adding a Book

Sign in to your Hero account, open any book on the FOC List, pick how many copies you want (up to 20) and click Add This Issue. You pay nothing now.

Every book in your pull box is 10% off its cover price. The store's Buy 2 / Buy 3 / Buy 4+ discounts don't apply to pull box books, including ones you buy with Add to Checkout.

You can add a book until noon Pacific on its FOC day. Most books close on a Monday, and a few close later in the week. Each book shows its own cutoff.

Everything you add shows on My Pull Box, with its cutoff and the week it ships. There's a limit on how much can sit in your pull box before it's paid for. See How Your Limit Works below.

A few books can't go in a pull box, and the book says why on the FOC List. Ratio covers are one of them, because a store only gets them by ordering a lot of the regular cover. For a book we can't order yet, click Notify Me, and we'll email you if it can go in your pull box before its FOC.

Series You Pull

Want every issue of a series? Find any issue of it on the FOC List and click Add as Ongoing. We add that issue now, and each new issue about a week before its FOC.

Each new issue joins your pull box on the Monday about a week before its FOC, at 10% off, and goes on the bill for the week it comes out, like any book. Until then it shows under Coming Up on My Pull Box. It isn't in your pull box yet, so it doesn't count toward your limit. When it joins, we email you, and you can remove it any time before its FOC. If a new issue isn't one we can order yet, we turn on Notify Me for it and email you when you can add it.

New issues come in the main cover (Cover A), in the number of copies you picked. Want a different cover of an issue? Add it or swap it any time before that issue's FOC. If an issue has no Cover A, we add its regular cover and the email says which one. If it only comes in special covers, we don't add it. We email you that Monday, and you pick the one you want, or skip it.

On My Pull Box you can change how many copies a series gets, or switch it to Every Cover We Can Order. Then each new issue comes in every cover we can order, in your number of copies, not including ratio covers or signed editions. That means foil, virgin and blank covers too, when they aren't ratio covers. The number of covers changes from issue to issue, and one issue can have a dozen or more. Your limit still applies.

If a new issue would put your pull box over your limit, we don't add it yet. We'll email you that Monday, so you have time to make room before its FOC. The email gives you your options: pay for the issue now with Add to Checkout, pay a bill that's out (paid books don't count toward your limit), or remove something. If its FOC is still open the next Monday, we try again. With Every Cover We Can Order, if all the covers would put you over your limit, we add just the main cover, if that fits.

Annuals, one-shots and specials don't join on their own. My Pull Box lists them under Also From This Series. Click Add This Issue on any you want.

If a series starts over with a new #1, we email you. Click Add the New One as Ongoing and it keeps your cover and copies choices. If you do nothing, we won't add it.

To stop a series, click Stop Ongoing on My Pull Box or on the FOC List. Issues already in your pull box stay there; you can remove them until each one's FOC.

Changing Your Mind

Before a book's FOC, change it any time, on My Pull Box or on the book on the FOC List: add copies, take some away, or remove it. Removing a book costs nothing and frees up that much of your limit. To clear every unpaid book from one FOC week at once, click Remove All of These under that week. Nothing has been charged, so there's nothing to refund.

Paid for a book with Add to Checkout? Click Cancel and Refund before its FOC, and we refund what you paid for it within a day or two. If that was the only book in its box, we refund that box's shipping too.

After a book's FOC, we've ordered it for you, so it's locked in and we count on you to pay its bill. Need a change then? Email info@multiverseofheroes.com and we'll see what we can do. What happens if a bill isn't paid is at the bottom of this page.

Pull box books can't be returned, but if a book arrives damaged or isn't the one you ordered, email us and we'll make it right.

If the distributor moves a book's FOC, we move it in your pull box too. My Pull Box shows the change, and if the book now closes sooner, we email you.

The Weekly Bill

About 9 days before your books come out (the Monday of the week before), we email one bill for everything in your pull box coming out that week, even books you added weeks apart. The bill shows each book at 10% off, one box shipping charge, and sales tax where it applies.

Pay each bill by the due date on it, typically the Sunday before its books come out. Pay with the link in the email, or click Pay This Box Now on My Pull Box. If it isn't paid yet, we send a reminder on Thursday and on Saturday.

Once it's paid, your box ships Wednesday, the day the books come out, and you get tracking by email. We aren't allowed to ship new comics before Wednesday, so your box reaches you a few days after release day.

Pay your first bill early, by the Thursday after we email it, and your limit goes up from $25 to $75. The bill email names that Thursday.

Need more time? By the bill's due date, click Need More Time? on My Pull Box and pick the day you can pay by, up to 14 days later. You can ask once per box, and there's no fee. Your books stay on hold while we answer, and we answer by email within a day. If we say yes, pay by your new day and your box ships as soon as it's paid. If we can't, the email tells you the day to pay by.

Shipping

Everything of yours that comes out the same week ships together in one box: the books on your bill and any you paid for at checkout.

Each box is $7.98. It ships free when the books in it come to over $75 after the 10% off. My Pull Box shows how much more a box needs to ship free.

If you already paid a week's box shipping at checkout, the rest of that week's books join the same box with no extra shipping.

Books coming out in different weeks ship in different boxes, each with its own shipping. Every box ships by USPS with tracking; we don't have local pickup. We ship pull boxes to US addresses only. Every book is bagged and boarded and packed in a comic mailer.

Want fewer boxes? Pick Ship Monthly on My Pull Box. We hold your paid books and ship them together once every 4 weeks, with one shipping charge (free when the month's books come to over $75). Bills still come weekly. The shipping goes on the bill for the week the box ships. If you have no books that week, we send a bill for the shipping alone.

Buying something from the store too? It ships right away on its own. Want it held for your next weekly box instead? Reply to your order email and we'll pack them together and refund the extra shipping.

Paying Now with Add to Checkout

Don't want to wait for the bill? Click Add to Checkout on a book, on the FOC List or on My Pull Box, then click Go to Checkout and pay today. It's the same 10% off, and there's no limit when you pay now.

A book you add straight to checkout isn't saved for you until you've paid. We hold a checkout for 2 hours, or until the earliest FOC of its books, if that comes first. If you don't pay by then, nothing is charged. Books in your pull box stay there, and books you added with Add to Checkout go back on our shelf.

Books you pay for still ship in the box for the week they come out. Checkout adds that week's box shipping, unless it's already paid, it's already on that week's bill, or the box ships free.

You can cancel a paid book until its FOC and we refund it. After that, it can't be returned, except damaged or wrong books.

A book needs a release date before you can pay for it. Until it has one, add it to your pull box instead, and we bill you once it's set to ship.

When a Book Is Late, Short or Damaged

Publishers sometimes move a book to a later date. What happens depends on where the book is:

  • Not on a bill yet: it moves to the box for its new week, and My Pull Box shows the new date. Nothing to pay until that week's bill.
  • On a bill you haven't paid: we take it off that bill and send you the bill again without it. It goes on the bill for its new week. Don't want it now? Click Remove It on My Pull Box before its new week's bill goes out, even though its FOC has passed.
  • Already paid: we email you the new date. It's still coming, in the box for its new week, with no extra shipping. Rather have a refund? Ask on My Pull Box any time before it ships, or reply to the email.
  • Paid, and moved a second time or more than 30 days: we need your OK to keep it. Click Yes, Keep It in the email or on My Pull Box by the day we give you (about a week). If we don't hear from you by then, the law has us cancel it and refund you in full.

If a publisher cancels a book, we refund it in full if you paid for it, or take it off your bill if you haven't.

Sometimes the distributor sends us fewer copies than we ordered, or a copy reaches us damaged. We use our own store copies first. If that still isn't enough, the people who added the book first get their copies first. To make sure you still get the issue when we come up short on your cover, tick Any Regular Cover Is OK on My Pull Box. Then, instead of a refund, we send another regular cover of the same issue when we have one. You never pay more; if it costs less, we refund the difference. Ticking it doesn't change your place in line: whoever added the book first still gets their cover first. If you didn't tick it and we can't send a copy you paid for, we refund that book, and if that leaves your box empty, we refund the box shipping too. If you haven't paid yet, it comes off your bill.

Refunds: a refund you ask for goes out within a day or two. A refund for a copy we came up short on, or one that reached us damaged, goes out the same day. Every refund goes back to the card you paid with, and you get a refund email from our checkout. From there it's up to your bank: the money can take up to 10 business days to show on your statement.

How Your Limit Works

Your limit is how much can sit in your pull box, not yet paid for, at one time, counted at cover price. Books you've already paid for with Add to Checkout don't count against it.

Each book in your pull box shows two prices: its cover price and your price. Why two prices? Your limit counts each book at its cover price, the price printed on the comic. What you pay is 10% off that. So a $4.99 book uses $4.99 of your limit and costs you $4.49.

Your limit grows in steps as you pay on time:

  • New customers start at $25.
  • Your limit goes up to $75 after two payments on time, or sooner: pay your first bill early (by the Thursday after we email it), or pay for any book with Add to Checkout (it counts once that book's FOC passes).
  • After 5 payments on time, it's $200. A payment on time is a bill paid by its due date, or a checkout you paid, once one of its books' FOC passes.
  • After 3 paid weeks, your limit follows what you buy: 3 times your average week, over your last 8 paid weeks. Every book you paid for counts, on a bill or at checkout. It's never lower than the step you've reached, and never more than $600.
  • Bigger weeks raise it and smaller weeks lower it a little. A week you skip doesn't count either way.
  • If your limit drops below what's already in your pull box, nothing is removed. You just can't add more until you're under it.

Need a higher limit? If you have a reason to grow your pull box faster than these steps, or to go past them (you pick up a full run every month, you're filling in a collection, you buy for a group), email info@multiverseofheroes.com with the subject Pull box limit request. Tell us what you buy and how much room you need, and we'll reply.

If a Bill Isn't Paid

If a bill isn't paid by its due date, those books go back on our shelf, and your limit drops one step: $200 to $75, or $75 to $25. There's no fee. A limit based on your average drops to the step below it. Your next payment on time brings it back to where it was. Need more time? Click Need More Time? on My Pull Box by the bill's due date. If we give you more time, the bill doesn't count as missed.

We order your books before you pay for them, so we count on every bill being paid. Any bill that isn't paid can mean we close your pull box, and more than one likely will.
