We Only Find Them When They're Dead #1 is the debut issue of Al Ewing and Simone Di Meo's science-fiction series from BOOM! Studios. The premise follows humanity in an era when the only way to survive is to harvest the corpses of enormous alien gods drifting through deep space. The story centers on a captain consumed by the idea that a living god might still be out there, and on the crew and rogue agent caught up in that obsession. It is a strong high-concept opener that established the series as one of BOOM!'s most notable original launches of 2020.

This copy is the third printing, released September 30, 2020, following distributor sell-outs of the first and second printings. BOOM! subsequently announced a fourth and then a fifth printing, confirming the sustained reader interest the issue generated. The third printing is a standard single-issue format book; the cover variant designation is O.
