We Only Find Them When They're Dead #1 is the debut issue of Al Ewing and Simone Di Meo's science-fiction series from BOOM! Studios. The premise drops readers aboard the Vihaan II, a salvage vessel whose crew harvests resources from the corpses of dead alien gods drifting through space. Captain Malik leads the operation, but his real obsession is finding a god that is still alive. It is a high-concept science-fiction setup executed with Di Meo's visually dense, neon-saturated interior art, and the first issue drew enough retailer and reader response to send BOOM! back to press multiple times.
This is the B cover, the Toni Infante 'Dead God' variant. Infante's painted composition leans into the cosmic-horror scale of the premise, presenting the series' central imagery with a different visual register than the standard edition. It is a variant cover from the original print run, not one of the later reprint covers, which used new Di Meo artwork.
