1st full appearance of Ninja Spawn. Blank sketch cover variant (Cover Q).
Spawn #301 is a genuine milestone in American comics: the issue that officially made Spawn the longest-running creator-owned comic book series ever published, surpassing Cerebus's 300-issue run. To mark the occasion, Image Comics assembled a roster of contributors including Todd McFarlane returning to pencils and ink, Greg Capullo, Jason Shawn Alexander, Clayton Crain, Jerome Opena, and Francesco Mattina across a 52-page anniversary publication. Cover Q is the blank sketch cover variant, designated 'CVR Q BLANK SKETCH CVR' in distributor listings, offering collectors a clean canvas on the front with all the interior content of the anniversary issue intact.
Blank covers have a dedicated following among collectors who seek original artwork commissions, convention sketches, or signed copies displayed without printed cover imagery. This copy is raw and ungraded, in the condition the photos show. The Spawn #301 blank is a practical choice for that purpose: a record-setting issue number with a clean white cover. Spawn #301 is the first full appearance of Ninja Spawn.
