1st cameo appearance of She-Spawn; Spawn's 300th-issue milestone. Greg Capullo virgin cover, no trade dress.
Spawn #300 is the milestone issue that made Spawn the longest-running independent comic series in American comics history, and Image Comics brought back the original creative team to mark it. Todd McFarlane and Greg Capullo, who built the series together in the 1990s, both contributed interior art, joined by Jason Shawn Alexander, J. Scott Campbell, and Jerome Opeña, with additional writing by Scott Snyder. The result is a 72-page anniversary issue that reads as a genuine celebration of 25-plus years of the character.
This is Cover D: the Greg Capullo Virgin cover, meaning the image runs clean with no logo, trade dress, or cover copy. Capullo's connection to Spawn goes back to the earliest years of the series, and this cover presents his rendering of the character without any of the standard branding over the art. For a 300th-issue milestone with this creative pedigree, the virgin variant is the collector's cover.
The issue also contains the 1st cameo appearance of She-Spawn, adding a first-appearance layer to an already significant issue number. With McFarlane on interior art, a Scott Snyder co-writing credit, and contributions from four more artists, Spawn #300 is an anniversary book that belongs in any Spawn run.
