Mighty Avengers Vol. 2 #1A, Greg Land Cover, Marvel '13

1st appearance of Monica Rambeau as Spectrum. Greg Land regular Cover A.

Mighty Avengers Vol. 2 #1 is the launch issue of Al Ewing's 2013 Marvel series, written as a tie-in to the Infinity event. Ewing assembled a street-level, community-focused Avengers team centered on Luke Cage, bringing together a roster distinct from the mainline Avengers books of the era. The series arrived at a moment when Marvel was expanding its Avengers titles across multiple creative directions under the Infinity banner, and this issue sets up the book's tone and lineup from the first page.

The issue carries the first appearance of Monica Rambeau as Spectrum, marking a significant identity shift for a character with a long history in the Marvel Universe. Rambeau had previously operated under the names Captain Marvel, Photon, and Pulsar; her adoption of the Spectrum identity here is a clean dividing line in her publishing history and the key reason collectors follow this issue. Greg Land provides both the interior pencils and the Cover A art, his photorealistic style dominant throughout.

This is the regular Cover A, not a variant or incentive edition. The Infinity tie-in banner runs across the top, situating the book squarely in Marvel's 2013 event publishing. The issue also introduces the Infinity crossover story thread that runs through the early arc of the series, with Thanos listed among the characters in the issue.
