1st issue of Middlewest. Mike Huddleston regular cover.
Middlewest #1 is the launch issue of Skottie Young and Jorge Corona's ongoing Image Comics series, arriving in November 2018. The book centers on Abel, a boy living in the American heartland who sets out across a strange and storm-haunted landscape with a talking fox at his side, trying to escape a volatile home and understand the mysterious force that follows his father. Young brings the same emotional directness he developed in his illustration work to the writing, while Corona's loose, expressive linework gives the Middlewest its own visual identity, somewhere between Don Bluth's creature warmth and a Midwestern gothic road story.
Cover A features Mike Huddleston's regular cover for the issue. Huddleston, known for his painterly, mixed-media approach, sets an immediate tone for the series with his cover design. The issue is priced at $3.99 and published under the standard Image Comics single-issue format. As the first issue of the run, it establishes the world, the central cast, and the emotional stakes that carry the series through its complete run.
