Round 5's UFC Ultimate Collector line set the standard for MMA action figures in the late 2000s and early 2010s, producing highly detailed, fighter-accurate figures at a time when the sport was crossing over into mainstream pop culture. Series 5, released in early 2011, featured Mauricio "Shogun" Rua among its roster, a fighter whose reputation was built across two organizations. Rua came up through PRIDE FC in Japan, where he was one of the most feared light heavyweights on the planet, before transitioning to the UFC and capturing the light heavyweight title in 2010. This figure carries that Pride-era identity as a Chase Piece, a variant that distinguishes it from the standard UFC-branded release in the same series.
Chase figures in the Round 5 Ultimate Collector line ran in smaller quantities and were consistently the harder pull at retail. The Pride Chase designation reflects Rua's history with the Japanese promotion and gives the figure a distinct presentation compared to the base Series 5 release. For collectors building a complete Round 5 run, or specifically tracking the chase variants, the Pride-branded Shogun is one of the more notable pulls from the series.
This is the fully PRIDE-branded presentation, not just a sticker variant: the entire card carries PRIDE trade dress front and back, with the figure sculpted mid-scream in blue PRIDE gloves and white Chute Boxe Muay Thai trunks. The card back tells the story collectors remember, Rua winning 12 of his 13 PRIDE bouts including the Middleweight Grand Prix title, and frames it with a photo montage of his wins over Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Akihiro Gono, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Ricardo Arona. A sealed piece of the PRIDE era from the line that documented it best.
