Figure #066 in The Saga Collection, and a figure with a genuinely unusual collector footnote: this action figure's packaging is the first place the droid was ever identified by name. The 2005 novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader introduced an unnamed black-domed astromech as Darth Vader's replacement for R2-D2 — selected specifically because Vader saw its dark coloring as a reflection of his own darkness. Hasbro named it R4-K5 for this 2006 release, and that designation became the canonical name. A rework of the ROTS R4-G9 Sneak Preview sculpt in an all-black deco, the figure pairs naturally with the Darth Vader Sith Starfighter vehicle release from the same era. One known production error to be aware of: the retractable third leg foot is assembled backwards on all samples of this figure.
