Star Wars Hot Wheels Death Star Trench Run Playset, Mattel '15

One of the most iconic scenes in Star Wars history reimagined as a Hot Wheels playset, the Death Star Trench Run set recreates Luke Skywalker's desperate run down the exhaust port trench from A New Hope. The centerpiece is a detailed Death Star trench diorama with a rubber-band actuated lever that opens the exhaust port as the included X-Wing is moved toward it — a satisfying mechanical payoff that captures the moment. The included X-Wing is a die-cast Hot Wheels starship (Luke's Red Five). Note that any TIE Fighter elements in the set are flat plastic pieces with stickers applied, not die-cast vehicles. Part of Mattel's first wave of Star Wars Hot Wheels products launched in 2014-2015 under the Starships sub-line.
