Ultimate X-Men #35 is part 2 of the six-part 'Blockbuster' story arc, written by Brian Michael Bendis and published by Marvel Comics with a September 2003 cover date. The issue pairs Wolverine and Spider-Man as they investigate a covert black-ops team hunting Wolverine; the team presents itself as FBI personnel, but Wolverine connects it to the Weapon X project. Black Widow appears as well, discussing her shared history with Wolverine, while Nick Fury and his prior association with Logan are also referenced. The issue closes with Wolverine taking a missile to the chest after Spider-Man's spider-sense fires a warning.
Set in the Ultimate Marvel universe, this series reimagined the X-Men from the ground up starting in 2001, and Bendis brought a street-level, dialogue-heavy approach to the characters during his run. The 'Blockbuster' arc, spanning issues #34 through #39, is among the more talked-about stretches of his tenure, and this issue in particular is noted for an unusually panel-dense sequence between Wolverine and Black Widow, with one page reportedly carrying 38 panels. The arc was later collected in the Ultimate X-Men trade paperback volume 7, also titled 'Blockbuster.'
