1st appearance of Tel-Kar, the Venom symbiote's first host. Gabriele Dell'Otto virgin cover, no trade dress.
Venom: First Host #1 opens a five-issue Marvel miniseries that traces the Venom symbiote's history back further than Eddie Brock, further even than Peter Parker. Writer Mike Costa and interior artist Mark Bagley build the story around Tel-Kar, the symbiote's original host, whose return forces Venom into a confrontation with its own past. It is the first appearance of Tel-Kar, a character the series positions as foundational to understanding what the symbiote is and why it bonds the way it does.
The virgin variant edition carries a cover by Gabriele Dell'Otto, presented without title treatment or trade dress. Dell'Otto's painted work on Venom is among the most recognizable in the character's modern visual history, and the clean cover format lets the full image read without interruption. This is the version of the issue built for collectors who want the art presented on its own terms.
