Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 5 #101 is a landmark issue: the first appearance of six new characters and the debut of Sophie Campbell as sole writer and artist of the mainline IDW series. This copy is the 1:10 retailer incentive cover by Dustin Weaver, which features the first cover appearance of Mona Lisa and Lita alongside Raphael, Jennika, and Bandit in a street-level Mutant Town scene. Mona Lisa — a mutant salamander and former college physics student, redesigned by Campbell for the IDW universe — and her companion Lita appear in the interior pages as well, making this their first appearance in print in any form. Mighty Mutanimals enforcers Bandit and Puggle also debut this issue, as do Diamond and Bea. Set six months after Splinter's death and the events of #100, New York City has been divided by a quarantine wall around Mutant Town following Old Hob's mutagen bomb. Colors by Ronda Pattison.
