Star Wars ROTS #48 R2-D2, Hasbro '05

Figure #48 from the 2005 Revenge of the Sith Collection 1 line, this is the electronic R2-D2, the only light-and-sound figure in the entire ROTS basic assortment. Press the front panel button and the front eye port lights up while the droid plays Episode III-specific sound effects. The sculpt is clean and sharply painted, with crisp blue paneling that holds up well. A couple of things for collectors to know: the dome does not rotate, as the internal electronics fill the space that would normally allow for rotation, and the center leg is permanently fixed in the lowered position. No retractable leg on this version. This figure proved popular enough that Hasbro repacked and re-released it multiple times through the Saga Legends line for years afterward, a testament to how well the electronic R2 was received at retail.
