Star Wars POTF STAP and Battle Droid Episode I Sneak Preview, Kenner '98

This is the STAP and Battle Droid Episode I Sneak Preview set, one of the first Phantom Menace products ever sold: Kenner shipped it in fall 1998, months before the film reached theaters, under the Power of the Force banner with The Kenner Collection logo in the final stretch of the Kenner brand. The window box stages the Trade Federation STAP with its Battle Droid pilot against swamp backdrop art, with firing laser missiles as the action feature.

The box back is a time capsule: Summer 1999 movie promotion copy introducing a nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker, a Doug Chiang production painting panel, and the Mace Windu Sneak Preview mail-in promotion. On this example the mail-in order form is UNCUT and the proof of purchase is intact, both frequently clipped from surviving boxes and both shown in the photos.
