1st full appearance of the Starface Man. Christian Ward variant cover.
The Department of Truth #2 is the second issue of James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds' conspiracy-horror series from Image Comics, released October 28, 2020. The series follows Cole Turner, a newly recruited agent who discovers that belief itself can reshape reality, and that the government has been managing which conspiracy theories become materially true. Issue #2 deepens that premise as Turner's suppressed childhood memories surface, pulling him further into the Department's unsettling mandate. This is also the issue that introduces the Starface Man in his first full appearance, a key early entry point for the character within the series.
This copy is Cover B, featuring variant cover art by Christian Ward. Ward's cover work brings a psychedelic, otherworldly color palette that contrasts with Simmonds' interior linework, and the two styles together give the early issues of this series a visual identity that set it apart from other Image launches of the period. The series went on to second and third printings across its opening issues, reflecting the sustained readership the title built from its debut.
