Released April 2005 as a Target-exclusive launch item for Hasbro's Revenge of the Sith line, the Lava Reflection Darth Vader is one of the most recognizable store exclusives of the prequel era. The figure ships in a collector clamshell behind a Vader-helmet-shaped card, as an Exclusive Collectors Edition limited to 50,000 pieces. The 'Duel at Mustafar' moniker anchors it to the film's climactic confrontation between Obi-Wan Kenobi and his fallen apprentice.
The naming is the collector hook: the sculpt is Anakin Skywalker, blue lightsaber in hand, but Hasbro titled the figure Darth Vader, because by the Mustafar duel Anakin has already taken the Sith name. The lava-reflection deco washes the figure in the orange glow of the Mustafar rivers, a treatment Hasbro later extended to other characters, with this Vader release as the first of the set.
This example carries a hand-signed autograph in blue paint pen from Matt Lanter, the voice of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, with his signature 'Anakin' inscription beneath the name. The signing was witnessed by Multiverse of Heroes. The clamshell has never been opened; the signature sits on the front shell over the card art.
