1st appearance of Otto Octavius as Superior Octopus. Alex Ross painted regular cover.
Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 4) #25 is an oversized milestone issue from Dan Slott's 2017 run, collecting multiple stories under one cover and marking the return of Norman Osborn as a central threat to Peter Parker's world. The issue kicks off 'The Osborn Identity' story arc alongside a suite of shorter backup features, bringing together an unusually deep roster of writers and artists for a celebratory 25th issue format. It is also the first appearance of Otto Octavius in his Superior Octopus identity, a significant character evolution for one of Spider-Man's defining villains.
The regular cover is by Alex Ross, who delivers a painted homage to classic Osborn imagery that anchors the issue as a formal occasion. Ross's painted work on Marvel milestone covers carries its own weight for collectors of his output, and this issue sits comfortably in that tradition. Interior work comes from Stuart Immonen, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Todd Nauck, Hannah Blumenreich, Cale Atkinson, Ray-Anthony Height, and Tana Ford, with writing from Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Hannah Blumenreich, Cale Atkinson, Jacob Chabot, and James Asmus.
At $9.99 cover price, this is a fatter-than-usual pamphlet format, reflecting Marvel's packaging of the milestone number. The copy is raw and ungraded, and no condition notes were recorded at time of intake.
