The story follows Princess Maxine Titan, a practically minded royal who would rather solve mysteries than attend royal functions, after her fairy godmother grants her every power associated with fairy-tale princesses at once. Alongside her sardonic steed Justine, Maxine sets out to figure out what to do with a wildly mismatched set of abilities, none of which are particularly useful for detective work. Thompson's script plays the fairy-tale premise straight enough to earn its laughs, and Drouhard's cartooning is bright, expressive, and precisely matched to the book's tone.
