Batman #620 opens "Broken City," a six-issue noir arc by the award-winning 100 Bullets creative team of writer Brian Azzarello and artist Eduardo Risso, with iconic negative-space covers by Dave Johnson. The story begins with Batman interrogating Killer Croc about the murder of Elizabeth Lupo, a woman found dead in a Gotham landfill. Batman knows Croc did it. He just can't prove who hired him. The trail leads to Angel Lupo, Elizabeth's brother, and a woman named Margo Farr, drawing Batman deeper into Gotham's criminal underworld. Running directly after Jeph Loeb's Hush, Broken City strips Batman down to his detective roots, forcing him to reckon with his own obsessions as the city he protects continues to grind people into dust. Risso's gritty, noir-drenched art is among the most distinctive Batman work of the era. This copy has been signed by writer Brian Azzarello.
