Darkchylde #4, "Shelter Me," marks a significant milestone in the series — it is the first issue published by Image Comics after the title moved from Maximum Press, which had dropped publication following issues #1–3. Image promoted the launch with a five-page preview in Spawn #56. The story continues Ariel Chylde's harrowing journey as a cursed young woman who can transform into the nightmare creatures that haunt her sleep, with each transformation setting another monster loose on the world of Salem, Georgia. Written and illustrated by series creator Randy Queen, this copy has been signed by Randy Queen.
