The issue carries the story title 'Lightning and Hunger' and brings Galactus into the picture alongside Thor Odinson, Balder the Brave, and Volstagg, setting the confrontational tone that defined Cates's cosmic-scale take on the character. The cover is by Olivier Coipel, whose clean, monumental figure work had been a hallmark of landmark Thor stories since his work on the J. Michael Straczynski run.

The issue contains a notable story-event moment: a reference to the destruction of the DC Universe, an unusual and self-aware piece of comics mythology that makes this chapter a point of interest within the run for readers tracking the arc's broader mythology. The Devourer King arc as a whole functions as an extended setup for the Black Winter storyline, with Galactus serving as both antagonist and reluctant herald across the opening issues.

This is the regular cover A, the standard first-printing edition with the Coipel cover, presented here as a raw copy. Donny Cates's Thor run is well regarded among modern Marvel readers for its ambition in scale and its use of cosmic continuity, making complete-run copies of the early issues worthwhile additions to a Cates run collection or a Thor longbox.

Characters: Thor Odinson, Galactus, Balder the Brave, Volstagg

Series Title: Thor, Vol. 6

Issue: #2

Cover: A (Regular Olivier Coipel Cover)

Cover Artist: Olivier Coipel

Writer: Donny Cates

Artist: Nic Klein

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Publication Year: 2020

Printing: 1st Printing

Key Issue: Reference to the destruction of the DC Universe (story event)

Story Arc: The Devourer King

*PHOTO DISCLAIMER: All photos are of the actual items, unless marked as pre-order.
