The issue brings Spawn face-to-face with his wife's killer and marks the reintroduction and resurrection of Spawn's earliest and most persistent enemies, including Violator/Clown, setting the stage for the arc that would culminate at issue #300. It is a hinge point in the run: the kind of issue that rewards readers who have followed Al Simmons from the beginning and carries real weight heading into the series' milestone finale.

This copy is the Black and White Edition variant, cover designated C, with cover art by Todd McFarlane and Francesco Mattina. The B&W treatment strips the cover down to line work and tonal contrast, giving Mattina's painted style a different character than the standard color edition. Alexander's interior linework is equally well-served by the era's strong production values, and the issue's dark subject matter suits the format.

Series Title: Spawn

Issue: #295

Cover: C (Black & White Edition)

Writer: Todd McFarlane

Artist: Jason Shawn Alexander

Publisher: Image Comics

Publication Year: 2019

Variant Type: Black & White Edition; cover art by Todd McFarlane and Francesco Mattina

Key Issue: Reintroduction and resurrection of Spawn's early and most persistent enemies

*PHOTO DISCLAIMER: All photos are of the actual items, unless marked as pre-order.
